Inclusive entrepreneurship 2017

The study examines policies and programmes in the field of inclusive entrepreneurship (target groups: youth, women, seniors, unemployed, migrants and people with disabilities) in Europe. Furthermore, strategies and measures to support entrepreneurship in these underrepresented groups are identified. The Austrian Institute for SME Research is again (like in 2016) responsible for the country report Austria.

Evaluation and impact monitoring of CTI Entrepreneurship

The goal of this accompanying evaluation of the CTI Entrepreneurship Programme to support high-tech start-ups is to assess its design, implementation and short and medium-term impacts. For the latter, we apply models from social psychology to assess the impact of individual training modules and accompanying measures on start-up activities and the performance of nascent enterprises in a complex environment of varied support structures across Switzerland.

One-person enterprises in Austria. Monitoring 2016/2017

The study analyses the current situation of one-person enterprises in Austria with main focus on work conditions in one-person enterprises (among them income situation and level of satisfaction) and furthermore provides a longitudinal comparison with former studies.

Evaluierung der Garantien des austria wirtschaftsservice (aws)
Evaluation of guarantees of the austria wirtschaftsservice (aws)

The objective of the evaluation was to obtain information about the effects, the governance and the accessibility of the guarantees provided by the aws. Based on that, recommendations for potential improvements were developed. Next to document analysis and analyses of monitoring data, two online surveys (with bank representatives and companies) as well as a control-group comparison based on the balance sheet database of the Austrian Institute for SME Research were implemented.

Begleitende Evaluierung zur Umsetzung des "Kursbuch Tourismus Oberösterreich 2011 – 2016"
Ongoing evaluation (2011 - 2016) of the implementation of the tourism strategy in the province of Upper Austria

The participatory development of the strategy to develop the tourism sector in the province of Upper Austria aimed at increasing the value added by removing bottlenecks and strengthening potentials with a broad sector approach. The accompanying evaluation of the strategy implementation focused on process as well as summative aspects (before-after comparison). The evaluation also comprised a comparison of the development with other regions.

The programme consists mainly of training seminars, qualification networks as well as innovation courses within tertiary studies. The evaluation analysed the usefulness of the instruments and the integration of the programme in the overall funding portfolio as well as the implementation and impact of the programme.

Interim evaluation of the participation of SMEs in FP7 (Cooperation Programme and the Research for the benefit of SMEs schemes)

The overall objective of the study was to evaluate the results and impacts of the participating SMEs within 2 initiatives of FP7: the cooperation programme and the research for the benefit of SMEs schemes under the capacities programme, including the impacts on economic performance, European added value, behavioural additionality and innovation. Beyond the evaluation study assessed the relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of the 2 initiatives.

Online-survey of the participants of the EcoBusinessPlan Vienna (4th program-period, 2010-2013)

“ÖkoBusinessPlan Wien” is a support programme of the department of environmental protection Vienna. With the consulting and support measures addressing efficient use of natural resources, Viennese enterprises shall be able to reach environmental aims while their costs are decreasing. The annual survey among the participating enterprises aimed at the enquiry of impacts and additionality of the support and the environmental measures carried out by the enterprises.

In 2007, the provincial government of Upper Austria entered a contract with the Austrian Wirtschaftsservice to administer some funding initiatives in its name. This strategic assessment covered these programmes, but also those implemented by the provincial government of Upper Austria itself for manufacturing, trade and commerce.

The focus was on analysing the intervention logics, complementarities and potential overlaps of the respective programmes during the period 2005 till 2009.
