Demand analysis for the bachelor programme “Human Computer Interaction” at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences

The study comprises an ex-ante assessment of the overall demand for graduates of the projected degree programme in the region, i.e. an assessment of labour demand, labour supply and employment opportunities based on secondary statistics, literature and interviews with enterprises / experts. In addition, the study includes an assessment of the acceptance / interest of potential students for the degree programme, comprising a description of the target group and catchment area as well as an analysis of the region's coherent post-secondary educational offer.

The study aims to develop an up-to-date inventory of the ICT sector in Vienna and to identify opportunities to advance the region to an “innovation leader”. Methodologically, the study is based on analyses of secondary statistics, a company survey, expert interviews and interactive methodologies. As a result, the study produces an assessment of employment, growth and development potentials as well as of the respective economic strengths and competences of the Vienna region’s ICT sector. These are transformed into recommendations for the regional economic policy.

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in European Regions and Cities

This research project analyses territorial patterns and performance of SMEs in Europe and investigates factors and driving forces for SME development at regional level. To this end the research utilizes comprehensive statistical data as well as in-depth case studies of diverse territories in the EU. The study then looks at what can be learned in terms of effective territorial strategies fostering SMEs in different types of regions.

Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des österreichischen Tourismus

Regionales Fachkräfte-Screening Oberösterreich
Screening of regional skills demand and supply in Upper Austria

This project analyses and assesses the labour market situation and development (labour demand and supply) at the level of occupations and qualifications in the regions of Upper Austria. This is done based on an in-depth analysis of regionalized labour market and educational data, and regional focus groups. The results serve as a basis for policies and initiatives to improve matching on regional labour markets. Einzelhandel – Quo Vadis?
Retail – quo vadis?

Retail trade is a main employer in Austria and also in Upper Austria. Every tenth employee in the Upper Austrian economy works in retail trade. Although there are structural changes, retail trade is (still) a stable employer. Trends and developments however indicate changes in retail trade with effects on the employment situation. Fundamental shifts in retail trade (keyword: internet retail trade) change the demands for the staff, and exactly these shifts and the high importance of retail trade as employer suggest a detailed discussion on the effects of central retail trade trends on the employment situation.

Administrative burdens index for trades and crafts in Lower Austria

The study aims at identification and quantification of administrative burdens: Which are the recurring legal obligations that are regarded as burdens by the entrepreneurs in the trades and craft sector in Lower Austria? What is the time requirement the enterprises expect for the obligations and what are the costs? Based on these data an “administrative burdens index” will be calculated to show the development over time.

Competitiveness of cultural and creative industries for growth and jobs

The study focusses on the analysis of the competitiveness and economic relevance of the European cultural and creative industries (CCI). It includes an overview on the most important indicators regarding the economic situation of the European creative industries and analyses the necessary framework conditions to guarantee an ideal future development beyond the background of trends and de-velopments. The study includes 5 detailed cased studies on national and 10 on regional strategies/initiatives to support CCI and derives central factors for policy learning and further recommendations for possible actions for an EU-wide CCI strategy.
