Simone Maria Grabner is a regional economist and economic geographer. Her research focuses on innovation, technology and structural change in regions and cities. She has published in relevant academic journals and written studies on the evolution and resilience of economic structures in response to global crises, diversification into green technologies and transformation. Before Simone joined the Austrian Institute for SME Research, she was a postdoctoral researcher in applied economics at Bocconi University and ab assistant professor in economic policy at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan (Italy). Simone received her PhD in Regional Economics and Urban Sciences (Gran Sasso Science Institute) in 2021 and before that she completed her Masters degree in Political Economy (Kingston University London) and Bachelors degree in Economics (University of Vienna).
