Austria has already a longstanding engagement in outer space affairs. For example, it participates in programmes of the European Space Agency (ESA) since 1975, it set up the Austrian Space Applications Programme (ASAP) in 2002 to support national stakeholders to engage in future international activities. Since 2012, there is also a space strategy of the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology in place.
This evaluation focuses on the activities from 2012 up to 2018 and develops recommendations for the further development of the national space strategy and the national ASAP programme.
