Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Information and communication technologies (ICT) are considered to be key technologies and drivers of innovation, economic growth and employment, particularly with a view to the development towards a knowledge-based society. This applies both to the ICT sector as a separate economic sector and to the use of ICT as enabling technology in other sectors and industries. The Austrian Institute for SME Research regularly conducts studies and analyses on relevant developments (for example in the field of digitalisation) and their effects on companies and locations at regional, national and European level.
