The current project involves an evaluation and impact analysis of the program “Mobility of the Future” (MdZ). The MdZ program supported the development of holistic solutions for a sustainable and future-proof mobility and transport system.
Between 2017 and 2021, a total of 288 RTI projects (research, technology, and innovation) were funded under the program. The aim was to create a stable framework to support the medium- to long-term orientation of mobility research.
The evaluation is based on the projects funded and activities implemented during this period. In particular, the medium- to long-term effects of the measures are analyzed in order to determine their effectiveness and efficiency. The aim is to understand how and under what circumstances the program was able to achieve certain effects.
Based on these findings, we derive recommendations for the future design of policy measures in the field of applied mobility research. In addition, we develop content- and process-oriented recommendations for existing and future mobility-related RTI initiatives.
Austrian Institute for SME Research and nexus – Institute for Cooperation Management and Interdisciplinary Research – were commissioned by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) to carry out the evaluation. The FFG implemented the program initiated by the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility, and Infrastructure together with AustriaTech and the Austrian Energy Agency as supporting organizations.
